Thuto AI — Privacy Policy

Thuto AI ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy and complying with POPIA. This policy explains what we collect and why, and how you can control your information when using www.thuto.ai and our apps ("Platform").

1) Who this applies to

Visitors, learners, parents, and educators using our Platform. It doesn't cover third-party services we integrate (e.g., Paystack, Supabase) which have their own policies.

2) Information we collect

a) You provide

  • Name, email, password; age/grade (optional); school (optional)
  • Payment info processed by Paystack (we don't store card data)
  • Questions, messages, uploads, and support requests

b) Collected automatically

  • Device/browser data (IP, OS, version)
  • Usage, pages visited, session duration
  • Cookies/analytics for performance and experience

You can disable cookies; some features may not work properly.

3) How we use your information

  • Personalise learning and track progress
  • Operate, secure, and improve the Platform and AI models
  • Process subscriptions and payments
  • Send important account/service updates
  • Comply with POPIA and other laws

We do not sell your personal information.

4) Sharing your information

  • Service providers: Supabase, Paystack, analytics—bound by confidentiality and POPIA-aligned terms.
  • Legal: When required by law or to protect our users and Platform.
  • With consent: For optional features or marketing you opt into.

5) Security

  • SSL encryption, secure cloud hosting, and access controls
  • Routine monitoring and audits

No system is 100% secure. By using the Platform, you acknowledge this risk.

6) Your rights (POPIA)

You may access, correct, delete, or withdraw consent to processing. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator. Contact: privacy@thuto.ai.

7) Data retention

We retain data while your account is active and as required by law (e.g., billing records). On closure, we delete or anonymise data unless retention is legally required.

8) Children's privacy

Intended for high-school and tertiary students. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13 without parental consent.

9) Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified by email or site notice. Continued use after updates means acceptance.
